Bigtech is one of Canada’s leading providers of advanced technology services, including repair, refurbishment, and supply chain management. Their focus is on cost reduction for clients, improved end -to-end cycle times and an increased first-time fix percentage.

The Challenge

Bigtech partners with larger companies to manage a variety of technology-based services. Recently, they have been expanding their resale offerings to include liquidations. This entails retail companies to entrust Bigtech to move substantial quantities of expensive merchandise. Bigtech has always prided itself on its integrity in an industry where smaller companies like them often lack transparency, so they needed a way to prove to customers that they could complete these services with honesty.

The Solution

Bigtech and Intertek have been partners since 2005 when they received ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certification. In 2019, at the request of a few customers, Bigtech spoke to their Intertek representative about obtaining ISO 37001 certification.

ISO 37001 Anti-bribery management systems allows organizations to prevent, detect, and address bribery by adopting an anti-bribery policy, appointing a person to oversee anti-bribery compliance, training, risk assessments, and due diligence on projects and business associates, implementing financial and commercial controls, and instituting reporting and investigation procedures.

Because Bigtech already operated with a robust system of checks and balances, there were no major challenges in achieving ISO 37001 certification. One of the biggest changes to the existing management system was ensuring that top management was more included. Bigtech has a top-heavy management system and ISO 37001 includes trainings that are specifically made for top management.

The Result

Achieving ISO 37001 certification was noteworthy for Bigtech for multiple reasons. It allowed them to stand out in their industry, which has a lot of corruption, while not having to change the way they do business. Additionally, Bigtech is one of the first Canadian companies to integrate anti-bribery practices into their management system & receive ISO 37001 certification.

One of the biggest results after achieving ISO 37001 is that companies are noticing. Certification to ISO 37001 tells prospective customers that their products are safe and their brand will be protected.

By partnering with Intertek, Bigtech took the steps to make them stand out among all their competitors. Intertek is an industry-leading quality assurance provider ready to help add value and mitigate risks for your organization.

“Bigtech prides itself on its honesty and integrity. Achieving ISO 37001 with Intertek set us apart by letting our customers know we do business the right way.”
