Standard: ICC-ES AC500 – Acceptance Criteria for Self-Drilling Tapping Screws used to Attach Miscellaneous Building Materials to Steel Base Material

Certification Required: For certification according to the requirements of the International Building Code and International Residential Code

Scope: The acceptance criteria stipulates requirements for recognition of carbon steel self-drilling tapping screws used to attach building materials to steel base material.

Applicable Products: Self-Drilling Tapping Screws made of carbon steel (including dual-hardened), stainless steel, and bi-metal materials

Test Procedures: Fasteners are tested for corrosion resistance, drill hole size and capacity, shear and tensile strength, bending moment strength, and pull-out strength.

End Result: To address determination of screw strengths and connection capacities and determination of design values.
